Packaging for a changing market

Scandiflex was established in direct response to a pressing customer need. Right from our inception in 1986, we recognized that the market was changing. And we were struck by a remarkable contradiction: while most of the packaging industry was going after large-scale production, the market was looking for something else entirely. More and more packaging purchasers - food manufacturers and retailers - sought greater flexibility, faster delivery and the opportunity to order smaller batches. And they left no room for compromise on quality - in print or in packaging.

Through grasping the importance of these needs - and by listening to the market - we've grown strong. The tendencies we first saw in the mid-eighties have become more pronounced over the years. Growth in the variety of available food products has been explosive and the need for new packaging has increased proportionately.

Today you won't find just one or even a couple of types of sausage in the supermarket chill cabinets. Frankfurters and hot dog sausages now lay side-by-side with kielbasa, kabanas, chorizo, salsicca, piccaro, bratwurst, and the like. And each type calls for its own unique packaging design. Plus, the large retail chains have created their own brands, private labels which increases the demand for packaging even more - despite the fact that the overall consumption of food products remains relatively constant.
